Welcome to Leisure Ranch Alpacas!

We purchased our first Alpacas in 2014 knowing that it would be a couple of years before our land was ready to properly house and care for them. Fortunately, we were able to board them while we got things ready at their new home.

Our Ranch is located in beautiful North Eastern Washington off the beaten path, about an hour northwest of Spokane. The Leisure Ranch is over 200 peaceful acres with abundant wildlife; Deer, Elk, Moose and Turkeys. Tucked into a small valley is our Alpaca facility.

Currently, about eight acres are fenced and cross fenced. Eventually, 30 acres will be fenced and prepared for use by our growing heard.

2017 was a big year for us! We completed our male facilities, fenced in another three acres, extended our water lines in anticipation of this years undertaking of fencing another eight acres for grazing.

We will also be continuing to plant more trees to eventually provide shade for our new buildings.

At Leisure Ranch Alpacas, our business plan calls for utilizing every aspect of the alpacas on our ranch.
• Making educated breeding decisions using histograms and S.H.I.P. program data to improve our herd quality.
• Maintain sales and stock levels suitable to the size of our facilities.
• Harvesting the fleece, for use in various marketable products.
• Utilizing the manure on site by composting as well as sales.
• Animals that are not up to breeding standards will be sold as “Fiber Only” or culled from our herd so as not to pass on undesirable traits
• Utilizing the meat of the alpaca that are culled.
• Tanning the hides of alpacas as part of our other business Leisure Ranch Tanning and Taxidermy.

In addition to the Alpacas, we have horses, miniature horses, some goats and chickens too! The manure the Alpacas provide is all used on the ranch. We have a large vegetable garden and mature and young apple trees in our orchard. A large berry patch is in the works this year.

As a relatively new Alpaca Ranch, our goal is to raise and breed quality Suri Alpacas, harvest and process top of the line fleece. Provide sales, boarding and stud services. We have been selectively building our herd, purchasing animals from a diverse set of proven genetics that will allow us to breed for diversity and maintain several colors. Several of our females are going to deliver Cria this spring and summer.

It has been a pleasure and an adventure developing the Leisure Ranch into a working Alpaca facility. By next year we should have some Alpaca sales listed and items available in our Ranch Store.

We welcome guests to our Ranch and Tours are available by appointment. We enjoy talking with and introducing people to these special animals. So, give us a call or send us an email and come see the Leisure Ranch!
