About
Triple H Ranch, located in the beautiful foothills of Colorado, was founded in 2013 by Jennifer Hack, after researching many types of livestock to raise. Why alpaca, and specifically suri alpaca? In a word, alpaca are more rare than most other types of livestock, and suri are the most rare of all, making up an estimated 20% of the US alpaca herd. But that is not the only reason. Alpaca are much easier on the land than other livestock, having pads on their feet as opposed to hooves, they are easier to handle, don't eat a ton, and are just overall enjoyable to raise and be around. And the best part of all, alpaca grow some of the most amazingly soft fiber.
Jennifer's story with animals, and livestock in general, starts way back however. Always an animal lover, she started with a love of horses at age 6, which continues to this day. She got her first horse at age 11, went through the ranks of the United States Pony Club and competed on a both a local and national level. As an adult, Jennifer started teaching riding lessons, giving clinics, judging at local shows and training horses. In 2001, she started volunteering with a local horse rescue and eventually became a sworn animal cruelty investigator and has been certified specifically as an equine cruelty investigator. Through all of that, she believed strongly that education was the most important tool to ending animal neglect and cruelty.
Jennifers 3 children (hence the name Triple H) followed in her footsteps in their love of animals, helping in the barn every day caring for the horses and eventually joining 4H and raised and competed with not only horses, but goats, sheep and rabbits. Thought her children are now all grown, they continue to help when needed on the ranch, especially on shearing day!
Understanding livestock breeding from her horse experience, Jennifer knew that she had to find the best animals she could to start with and build from there, making very careful, informed breeding decisions based on not only genetics, but conformation and fiber traits as well. She has learned a lot since 2013 and has grown her herd into a respected, successful suri herd. Just 7 years after purchasing her first alpaca, Jennifer won the prestigious AOA Breeders Cup in the medium farm division, which is no easy feat! She repeated that win in 2021 and has no plans to stop there. Her herd now consists of several champions which she bred, as well as some amazing herdsires that will continue to improve her breeding program. Jennifer has quickly earned a track record of producing high quality, award winning alpacas.
Triple H Ranch provides seed stock for sale, agisting, mentoring as well as having top of the line proven herdsires.
